Gift Planning Directory

Since the early settlement days, Western Canadians have developed a strong sense of community responsibility. Albertans in particular have carved a niche as leaders in volunteerism and philanthropy, donating gifts of time, talent, and financial resources to improve the quality of all our lives.

The AAFRE Gift Planning Directory was created to provide a quick, accurate reference of such people. It includes a comprehensive list of registered charities for the use of allied professionals in the "gift planning field," and may be of interest to lawyers, accountants, estate planners, insurance agents, and individuals donating major gifts. It's also distributed to the directory's members as a means to provide educational and networking opportunities.

AAFRE publishes the Gift Planning Directory each January. Copies are distributed to all branches of the Edmonton Public Library or you can download it here.

Please note that downloads require Adobe Acrobat Reader. Download it here.

Information for Donors in Alberta

Service Alberta offers a handy document that every first-time donor should read before making a contribution. It includes pointers on donating wisely, tax information, and laws to protect donors in Alberta.

Charitable Fundraising Act

In May 2005, Scott Hood and Laura Davis gave a PowerPoint presentation to AAFRE members on the ins and outs of Alberta's Charitable Fundraising Act. It included such useful information as the history of the act, its purpose, and registration requirements. Download the handout here.
